FINAL LOGO
When designing a logo for Illinois Esports, I was essentially given only two rules: Please don’t use the traditional I block, and please use our official orange and blue. Which I did! The I block is unable to be translated across platforms that are “unofficial” so I took it and cheated a bit to create what you see here. Using the block I, translated into lower case, I created a locked-in logo with an uppercase E being hid behind. The Illinois Esports font I chose (Magistral Bold) had a “modern” gaming feel to me, so I spread out the tracking to give it a smaller footprint.
FIRST PASS
Unfortunately, this stage is when I learned about the block I being disallowed. No big deal! Turn it into a lower case I. That’s the whole thought process. I cheated. I stuck with Magistral font from the beginning, too. But this is when I created the divide in the E from only the right edge, instead of adding it behind the entire I.
